Go-Go fans, this one belongs on your Labor Day weekend calendar.

The Summer Soul Music Festival 2026 is bringing a major celebration of 50 years of Go-Go music to the Charles County Fairgrounds in La Plata, Maryland on Sunday, September 6, 2026.

This year’s festival features some of DC’s most loved Go-Go bands, including Rare Essence, Junkyard Band, Backyard Band, and Northeast Groovers.

For the DC, Go-Go is more than music. It is culture, family cookout energy, block party rhythm, and a sound that has carried generations. Summer Soul Music Festival is putting that legacy front and center with a full day dedicated to the bands and fans who helped keep Go-Go alive.

Why Metro Montage Is Watching

There are a lot of festivals across Maryland, DC, and Virginia, but Go-Go festivals hit different because the music comes directly from this region.

Summer Soul Music Festival 2026 is not just another outdoor concert. It is a celebration of DC’s official music, the bands that shaped the culture, and the community that still shows up for the crank.

If you love Go-Go, live music, and real DC culture, this is one to put on your list.

ABOUT

Ever since I borrowed a camera from a friend of mine eight years ago, I have loved sharing what I see through the lens of my camera with the world. There is nothing better than making somebody feel like they were right there with you. A brief moment in time, by way of photography, can say so much. I hope that these brief moments in time point people in the direction of someplace, something, or someone that they may not be aware of, and that they are curious enough to go see for themselves.
