If you live in the DC, Maryland, or Virginia, and you are not familiar with the many festivals that occur in Baltimore throughout the summer, you are missing out. Many of the festivals are free and offer up some great entertainment. This past weekend was the Sowebo Arts & Music Festival. Sowebo stands for South West Baltimore.
There were three stages that featured various bands throughout the day. I arrived at the festival just in time to catch Femi The DriFish & The Out Of Water eXperience.
The Baltimore based band is lead by Femi Lawal a.k.a Femi The DriFish who has been on the scene for about 12 years. The band describes itself as a lyrical alternative Hip-Hop Rock Band. You can hear a sample of the bands music below.
The bands performance at the Sowebo Arts & Musical Festival was interactive, high energy, and fun. No need for lights, fog machines, or anything else to help enhance their show. Music and lyrics, that was it. It was refreshing to see a superb bare bones performance from a band. Not only that, but a superb performance by a band that wasn’t the headliner and whose set time was in the middle of the afternoon. That’s rare.
