Lionel Lyles, band leader of Lionel Lyles Quintet, performs at Club 347 on Thursday, January 3, 2012 in Baltimore, MD.

Baltimore’s own Lionel Lyles Quintet made a long awaited return to Baltimore and the stage of Club 347.

After gigging on the seas of the Caribbean for months, Lionel Lyles returned to Baltimore in late December and immediately got the band together for a night of jazz at Club 347. On stage with him for the night were regulars Mike Fitzhugh (trumpet) and Ramiz Mendez (bass). Filling out the quintet were Mark Prince (drums), and Warren Wolf (keys). In addition, saxophonist Craig Alston (Fertile Ground, Eubie Blake Big Band) sat in with the band for a couple of songs.

ABOUT

Ever since I borrowed a camera from a friend of mine eight years ago, I have loved sharing what I see through the lens of my camera with the world. There is nothing better than making somebody feel like they were right there with you. A brief moment in time, by way of photography, can say so much. I hope that these brief moments in time point people in the direction of someplace, something, or someone that they may not be aware of, and that they are curious enough to go see for themselves.
