Trayvon Martin Rally- Baltimore

Hundreds of rally participants march east on Pratt St. in downtown Baltimore, MD on Monday, March 26, 2012. The rally was in support of Trayvon Martin, the 17-year-old who was unarmed when he was shot and killed on February 26, 2012 by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in Sanford, FL.

According to the Baltimore Sun, the Baltimore police department estimated the number of rally participants at 1,200 people. The rally started at McKeldin Square at the corner of Light & Pratt Streets with many participants wearing hoodies, holding up signs some reading: “We Are All Trayvon Martin” and “Say No To Racism while others held up bags of Skittles and cans of Arizona Iced Tea. As vehicles passed by, rally participants encouraged drivers to honk in support of Trayvon Martin.

From McKeldin Square, rally participants took to the streets marching east on Pratt St. to Baltimore City Police Headquarters and then ending up at City Hall. Reverend C.D. Witherspoon addressed the crowd at Baltimore Police Headquarters & at City Hall taking to the balcony at City Hall to address the large crowd.
