The 9/11 Dance- A Roving Memorial

The 9/11 Dance: A Roving Memorial at Arts on Foot in Washington, DC on Sunday, September 11, 2011.

Sarah Skaggs Dance,  DancePlace DC,  and dance students from Dickinson College, helped to create the roving memorial. The piece is based on an original solo piece choreographed following 9/11 by Sarah Skaggs’s called, Dances for Airports.

The 9/11 Dance- A Roving Memorial, based on Dances for Airports, is an eleven minute piece that was performed by dance groups in New York, Washington DC, and Shanksville, PA to commemorate the anniversary of 9/11.

Ever since I borrowed a camera from a friend of mine eight years ago, I have loved sharing what I see through the lens of my camera with the world. There is nothing better than making somebody feel like they were right there with you. A brief moment in time, by way of photography, can say so much. I hope that these brief moments in time point people in the direction of someplace, something, or someone that they may not be aware of, and that they are curious enough to go see for themselves.
