The Greek Independence Day Parade

March 22, 2010 By Anthony Washington

The Warriors of Thermopylea make their way to the opening ceremonies of the Greek Independence Day Parade in the Highlandtown neigborhood of east Baltimore, MD on Sunday, March 21, 2010.

The parade was in honor of the sacrifices that all Greek ancestors  have made to preserve the ideals of freedom and democracy. The parade included participants from across the state. In addition,  a number of dignitaries were in attendance. Including,  the Ambassador of Greece Vasilis Kaskarelis, Former U.S. Senator Paul Sarbanes, and Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake to name a few.

ABOUT

Ever since I borrowed a camera from a friend of mine eight years ago, I have loved sharing what I see through the lens of my camera with the world. There is nothing better than making somebody feel like they were right there with you. A brief moment in time, by way of photography, can say so much. I hope that these brief moments in time point people in the direction of someplace, something, or someone that they may not be aware of, and that they are curious enough to go see for themselves.
