Sculpted Metal Chess Set

August 30, 2009 By Anthony Washington

Pieces of the life-size interactive chess set in the Tall Sculpture Barn at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, MD on Sunday, August 30, 2009.

The sculpted metal pieces, made to resemble angels and demons, were created by North Carolina artist, Lyle Estill. The Tall Sculpture Barn, where the chess set resides, stands 45-feet tall and is the former home of the Fore Roses Whiskey warehouse. The building is one of three buildings that make up the American Visionary Art Museum.

ABOUT

Ever since I borrowed a camera from a friend of mine eight years ago, I have loved sharing what I see through the lens of my camera with the world. There is nothing better than making somebody feel like they were right there with you. A brief moment in time, by way of photography, can say so much. I hope that these brief moments in time point people in the direction of someplace, something, or someone that they may not be aware of, and that they are curious enough to go see for themselves.
