Feast of St. Gabriel Italian Festival

August 23, 2009 By Anthony Washington

Mary Alexa of Baltimore pretends to pray like an angel as she waits for the processional in honor of St. Gabriel, patron saint of Abruzzi, to begin outside of St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church in the Little Italy neighborhood of Baltimore, MD on Saturday, August 23, 2009.

Following the processional, a small ceremony was held to officially open the second day of the Feast of St. Gabriel Italian Festival. The festival honors St. Gabriel, patron saint of Abruzzi, an area which many of Baltimore’s Italians emigrated.

ABOUT

Ever since I borrowed a camera from a friend of mine eight years ago, I have loved sharing what I see through the lens of my camera with the world. There is nothing better than making somebody feel like they were right there with you. A brief moment in time, by way of photography, can say so much. I hope that these brief moments in time point people in the direction of someplace, something, or someone that they may not be aware of, and that they are curious enough to go see for themselves.
